Insurance for expats and residents in Málaga
Moving to the Costa del Sol to live, work, study or retire? We help you with the insurance your paperwork asks for and the cover worth having: health, home, car and funeral.
What we do for you
- Private health cover with no co-payments or waiting periods, as consulates usually require for visas
- Home insurance for your main home or a second home, including when it stays empty for long periods
- Funeral cover with repatriation to your home country if you need it
- Car insurance on Spanish plates, also if your licence is from another country
Frequently asked questions
Is the health insurance valid for a visa or residence permit?
We look among the insurers we work with for a policy of the kind consulates usually accept: an insurer authorised in Spain, full cover, no co-payments and no waiting periods, with the certificate for your application. Each consulate and visa type (non-lucrative, digital nomad, student...) sets its own requirements: check yours before you buy and we will choose a policy that meets them with you.
Can I take out a policy before I have an NIE?
Often yes: some insurers accept your passport while your NIE is being processed. Tell us your situation and we will tell you which ones do.
What if I am only here on holiday?
For a trip, travel insurance with medical assistance is enough, and if you hire a car it is worth checking the rental excess. This page is for people who come to live here or spend long periods in Málaga.
